MUSIC IN MEDICINE
POP CHORUS
Collective singing builds social connections, reduces stress, and promotes wellbeing. Nowhere is this more relevant than in the healthcare environment.
Music in Medicine Pop Chorus is a joint initiative of the Greater Moncton Chorale and the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation.
The project is the brain child of Dr. Lisa Searle, a Moncton physician who participated in a similar initiative at Dalhousie University during her medical training and who recognized the potential benefits for her colleagues at The Moncton Hospital.
Membership is open to Horizon Health employees as well as members of the community-at-large. No experience is required.
We sing a variety of popular genres, including timeless classics by The Beatles, ABBA, Elton John and others; hits by some of today’s top artists; and secular seasonal favourites, arranged for 3-part mixed (SAB) choir.
Downloadable sheet music (to print or read from a tablet), part-specific learning tracks, an events calendar, and weekly rehearsal plans are provided on the Choir Genius platform for all choristers.
Music in Medicine Pop Chorus performs several times a year in concerts and community events.
The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation is thrilled to support the choir as a wellness benefit for anyone providing services to the patients of The Moncton Hospital. These individuals need not pay a choir membership fee but may donate to the Friends Foundation to help defray some of the choir operating costs.
